Project: Rodney Scott's BBQ
For this project I was tasked with redesigning the packaging for a BBQ shop in South Carolina. To successfully capture the essence of the business, I made sure to draw from the homegrown, natural, upbeat mood that Rodney, himself stands for and makes his business stand for.
The project was threefold, creating BBQ sauce bottles, boxes to contain said bottles, and dry spice containers. In addition, there were to be 3 flavors represented on each container.
For these designs, as you can see in my concept research, I desired to derive the color scheme from bright nature and Rodney's original palette, which included the beautiful pop of sky blue. Additionally, the typography is a slab serif, showcasing a rugged, yet classic feeling within the label. Finally, I use thick iconography on the labels to keep things recognizable and offer a postmodern pop.
Drafts: For these drafts I played with the architecture and hierarchy of the labels, sticking with my concept choices for color, typography, and iconography.

Advertisement Mockups: In addition to the final concept designs for each container, I went the extra mile and showcased the designs on potential advertisement layouts in different settings.
