Project: Remix Book
I was tasked with creating a book based on the essay "What Comes After Remix?" by Lev Manovich. To do this, I used scanned images from magazines and digitally collaged them together with a color edit to make reds pop while maintaining an overall color scheme of black, white, and red. I also utilized line work to differentiate the photographs while also merging them.
This book showcases how our culture is made up of remixes by being a remix itself.

The original scans

My black and white and red manipulation of the images for a spread to showcase the eye, neck, and using the beetle broach as another eye. I also used the lines to demonstrate the sharp angle of the shoulders into the neck.

Other than the obvious juxtaposition shown in the different bodies being used to create one body, I also specifically wanted to create cohesive curvature aspects throughout the book to contrast the harsh lines used. Seen here with the hip flowing into the car, while the hand reaches for the wheel.
