Project: Fine Literary Wine
What if you could bottle (or in this case, box) the essence of your favorite character from classic literature? That was a question I asked myself, and one I like to think I answered through these wine boxes thoughtfully designed with unique flavor profiles, character illustrations, and additional hand-drawn elements.
Throughout this project I had 4 main important steps; choosing the characters, choosing the package-type, understanding the flavors for each character, and designing the icons and illustrations.
In my concept research, I wanted to really play off the musky, pastel yet dark colors of old books that match the personality of the characters. Additionally, I chose a classic theatrical serif, Playfair, that grasps the fantastical aspect of the characters and also shows sophistication. Finally, I very clearly wanted to showcase the icons displaying the flavor profile in a uniform way, so being confined to the circles and using the negative space for the icons felt classy and bold.
